Online Catalog Project Cataloger

The Delaware Historical Society is pleased to announce two grant-funded, two-year, full-time position openings in our Collections and Access team for an Online Catalog Project Cataloger.  The project involves creating public access to our collections of historical documents and photographs.  The catalogers, one specializing in manuscripts and one in photographs, will convert paper-based cataloging to an online catalog using the CuadraSTAR software.  (Visit www.dehistory.org/AskCaesar.htm to see the online catalog).  The catalogers will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and in collaboration with other Collections and Access staff.  This is a temporary salaried position with partial benefits.  The starting salary (non-negotiable) is $28,000, with the possibility of a year-end bonus if goals are met.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Cataloging photographic or manuscript collections of varying sizes from paper records into the CuadraSTAR system

  • Working with other Collections and Access staff members on materials that are challenging in format or content

  •  Report to Project Manager

  •  Rehousing materials as necessary

  •  Occasionally participating in institution-wide initiatives and events

 Qualifications

  • BA in U.S. history

  • MA in U.S. history a plus

  • 1-2 years experience in archival or photographic processing, a historical research library, or history museum collections management

  • Experience with photograph or manuscript processing preferred
