Note: This exhibit is CLOSED. For reference only. The Morse Autograph Collection, a treasure trove of First State history, contains documents from over 500 Delawareans dating from the late 1600s to the early 1900s. Although Willard S. Morse acquired the documents for their autograph value, many of them tell fascinating stories, or parts of stories, about Delaware and its people. The documents in this exhibition provide glimpses of the African- American experience, the American Revolution, civic life, and the human experience. Another exhibition, in 2002, focusing on Delaware’s governors, members of Congress, and federal cabinet officers, will present more gems from the Morse Autograph Collection. With Pen in Hand ran from June 25 through September 21, 2001 |
