North from Christina River
Ca. 1867
HSD Collection

This well-known view never grows old.  It was published in a cropped version in
Art Work of Wilmington, (W.H. Parrish Co.:1893).  At the time of this photograph
the street and sewer department had yet to be established and traveling up and
down even the main street was bumpy and dirty.  The photographer was standing
near the bridge that spanned the Christina River, looking north.
