Prepare a Dutch and Swedish feast on the Read House's open hearth.  Discover the original settlers of Delaware, explore their culture and foodways, utilize 17th - 19th century cooking technologies: reflecting oven, spider, suspended kettle, and Dutch oven.

Fear not the hot coals!  The Read house open hearth specialists will guide you along the way!

Once your day is done, share in tasting the fruits of your labor in a Swedish Smorgasbord setting with your fellow cooks!

These workshops are in conjunction with our current exhibition at the Delaware History Museum, Frontier Delaware, two travelling exhibits exploring the impact and legacy of Delaware's earliest European adventurers - the Dutch and the Swedes - click here for information.
