Ethel Pennewill Brown Leach's life and work make her a true Delaware artist. Her studies with Howard Pyle influenced her throughout her long career, and she found some of her favorite subject matter in the small towns and natural settings of southern Delaware.   A lifelong Delawarean, Ethel Leach lived in Wilmington, Frederica, and Rehoboth Beach.  She worked tirelessly to encourage art and artists, especially in Rehoboth Beach.  Ethel Leach's legacy lives on in the works she created and the artistic community that she fostered.

Over 75 works in many media demonstrate Ethel P.B. Leach's wide range of creativity.  Familiar downstate scenes, thoughtful studies of women, and peaceful still lifes are among the works displayed.   Photographs, documents, and memorabilia tell the story of her life as she overcame obstacles to fulfil her dream of being a professional artist.
