our talks are not just informative - they're fun!

We require a minimum of three weeks advance notice for scheduling.  

Each talk is thoroughly researched then written by individual speakers - the availability of the talk you request depends on the availability of that specific speaker.   Please take a minute to look over the topics listed below before you call to schedule.

*0-49 Miles round trip Free
*50-99 Miles round trip +$15
*100-200 Miles round trip +$30

Before the Age of Acme -
A look at the changing ways in which people ate and shopped for food in Wilmington, 1880s-1930s, from the corner store to the supermarket.

Caesar Rodney -
A presentation on the life of Delaware hero Caesar Rodney and the choices he faced during the American Revolution.

Emily Bissell and the Christmas Seal -
An illustrated presentation on the life of Delaware’s Emily Bissell, who introduced the Christmas seal in the US in 1907 and did so much more to help others.

Introduction to the Religious History of Delaware

Peaches to Profits -
How peaches became Delaware’s most important crop in the 1800s, bringing prosperity to Delaware farmers.

Seasonal Talk:
Bones and Stones (September-October; April-June)

Death, burial, and established funeral customs were part of everyday life in the past.  This unusual aspect of social history comes with an illustrated talk and artifacts.
